Colorado is known for it’s amazing rafting, and while there’s no rafting down the Blue River through Breckenridge, the town has an abundance of experienced outfitters that will provide an exciting whitewater adventure.
What to Bring
MAY, JUNE, AND SEPTEMBER Bathing suits/shorts, sunscreen, sunglasses with a retainer, fleece or polypropylene top, wool socks, bottled water, warm change of clothes for after the trip.
JULY-AUGUST Bathing suits/shorts, sunscreen, sunglasses with a retainer, polypropylene top for class 4-5 trips, bottled water, change of clothes for after the trip.
River Difficulty
Breckenridge Whitewater uses the international river rating system to describe the rivers. Trips are offered on Class II – Class V Rivers and creeks. The sections that they run are often remote and inaccessible. This is part of the adventure, but it also means that evacuation may be difficult. New rafters and kayakers should get a feel for the type of whitewater that suits them best by starting out on a less difficult river. Check out the river rating system before signing up for your adventure.

Kayaking -
Whitewater kayaking gives you the choice to navigate the river with creativity. With lots of whitewater in the state, Colorado residents paddle more than just about anyone. When you are on vacation and need some fun, kayaking can show you the spirit of the river.
Breckenridge Whitewater’s instructors love to teach kayaking. They travel around the country and the world for experience on whitewater of every kind. Most have taught kayaking for nearly a decade or more, and all instructors have American Canoe Association (ACA) certification.
BWR will cater to anyone from beginners -first timers or just a few notches on the paddle, to intermediates -rolling in whitewater and solid basic skills. Two nearby reservoirs, Green Mountain and Lake Dillon, provide us a perfect non-threatening setting for teaching the “Eskimo roll”. The classic Arkansas and Colorado rivers allow us the option to put any kayaker on the perfect stretch of whitewater.
