“Perfect Place to Stay in Breck!”

Monday, February 13th, 2012

We went on vacation to Breckenridge last weekend and stayed at Pine Ridge for the 2nd time. We have stayed in a 2bed/2bath unit and this time a 2bed/2bath + loft unit that sleeps 10. We had 7 adults and 3 kids (all family) and it was perfect. We never felt crowed like you are on top of each other because the unit is spacious. The kitchen was upgraded and the entire unit has been recently updated and remodeled. As was the unit we stayed in last time.
The staff is fantastic to deal with and very helpful. The gave us recommendations on where to eat and on top of your needs. We stayed 4 nights and did not expect the housekeeping to come in but they did after 2 nights and changed all of the towels in the unit and took out our trash. We didn’t expect either of these because there is a washer and dryer in the unit. We also need a Pack ‘n’ Play for our 19 month old and they have them on request so it was great to not have to bring ours along with all of our snow gear.
It is also located a few hundred yards away from a ski lift and you can ski right down the edge of the property and not have to do much walking. And it’s located really close to Main street so you can walk all around the shops and not need to get there by car.
This is one of those places that you love to stay at but almost don’t want to tell anyone about so that it’s available when you want to go. :) So if you can’t tell from my review we loved it and would highly recommend it.

Town Trappings: Wasabi review

Saturday, February 4th, 2012

Sushi in the Rocky Mountains in February…. Impossible! Actually there’s a plethora of sushi places to choose from in Summit County. My choice for Pine Ridge guests would be Wasabi Japanese restaurant.

We recently visited Wasabi in Breckenridge and had an amazing time! Our waitress was cheery and informative. We started with the Wasabi Steamed Pork Dumplings (We’re always striving to try something new.) If you are in the mood to try something uniquely delicious, this is for you! Immediately the savory pork dumplings fill your mouth with the delight, then the wasabi hits the roof of your mouth– POW! Like stepping out into the snow after a hot tub, the wasabi caught us off guard even though we knew it was coming. However, the appetizer was so delicious, we ordered a second!

Finally came the main event– the sushi! The spicy tuna and asparagus rolls were delicious, but out shined by Wasabi’s specialty rolls. The Shrimp Tempura roll and the Summit Roll could only be described as yummy. In fact, rather than getting dessert we ordered another roll, this time enlisting the help of our waitress. She suggested the Number 10- their newest roll. It’s a cross between a California Roll and a Spicy Tuna roll. The best of both worlds! We were delighted.

Overall, Wasabi is the best sushi in Breckenridge (by our account). I would even suggest that it’s the best Asian dining in Breck, but I would only be making this judgment by their wasabi pork dumplings. (Though those by themselves would earn Wasabi a best of mark in my book.) But go see for yourselves, they’re located at 311 North Main Street in Main Street Mall or visit their website at http://www.wasabi-breckenridge.com/ .

Fifteen teams of snow sculptors from ten different countries have already begun carving what they hope to be the winning piece in Breckenridge’s annual Snow Sculpture Championships. The teams began the sculpting process Tuesday at 11 a.m. and 65 hours later on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 10 a.m. the teams must be finished with their work. The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday at 3:30 p.m., but curious visitors are encouraged to come and view the process and the final products anytime starting Jan. 24,

Breckenridge is expected to see snow accumulation in the neighborhood of 2 to 4 inches on Friday. Come Saturday, temps will range between 18 to 28 degrees and not a trace of that bone chilling wind we all love/expect. With last weekends snow firmly packed into corduroy and additional snow on the way, conditions are shaping up everyday. What are you waiting for? Pick up the phone and give us a call 1-888-840-4170

Pine Ridge is almost fully booked for this weekend, but we do have a few remaining units. Find our availability here (hit your refresh button for the most current results).
