The Lighting of Breckenridge

The first weekend in December begins Breckenridge’s annual transformation into a sparkling holiday scene. While large gatherings like the official lighting countdown and the Race of the Santas have been postponed until 2021, the holiday spirit still twinkles throughout our community with a holiday line-up guaranteed to warm any Grinch’s heart.

Those visiting Breckenridge during the December 5th kick-off weekend can expect a “Santa-fied” community decked out in Santa suits, a festival of trees creating a winter wonderland, and animations aimed to surprise and delight with self-guided snowshoe adventures to see Santa and more! The iconic holiday lights in downtown Breckenridge are one of the most photographed sights during the snowy months and continue to shine and spread hope all winter long.

The Lighting of Breckenridge will adhere to all public health and safety regulations required for Colorado. Learn More

10 Days Of Ullr

For over 57 years, the snow-obsessed community of Breckenridge has strapped on Viking helmets and paid tribute to Ullr (rhymes with cooler), the Norse god of snow, in hopes to be rewarded handsomely with all things snow. While large gatherings like the iconic Ullr Fest parade, Ullr Bonfire and unofficial world ShotSki record have been postponed until 2021, Breckenridge won’t let their dear friend go a winter without feeling their praise.

The new Ten Days of ULLR happening December 9 – 19, 2020 is expected to invigorate the winter spirit in everyone. This year’s event will pay homage to Ullr with static open-air art installations throughout town, a town-wide adventure race scavenger hunt sure to test any snow worshiper’s merit, the Breckenridge Distillery virtual ShotSki, a Breck Film winter film series screening, Strava-based fat bike races, BreckCreate Ullr helmet making kits and more!

Ullr Fest will adhere to all public health and safety regulations required for Colorado. Learn More

Breckenridge Snow Sculpture Invitational

While the annual International Snow Sculpture Championships are postponed until 2022, Breckenridge’s snow sculptures will still make an appearance during the 2021 Breckenridge Snow Sculpture Invitational.

This year, Breckenridge will host temporary snow art installations placed throughout our historic mining community to encourage people to move throughout a larger footprint for viewing. Internationally acclaimed sculptors from Colorado who have helped shape Breckenridge’s rich 30 year tradition of snow carving will come together to amaze and delight with their snow creations. In the spirit of open-air exploration that Breckenridge is known for, snow sculptures will be featured in iconic dispersed locations and remain on display for two weeks from January 29 – February 7, 2021.

  • Build Week: January 26 – January 29
  • Viewing Weeks: January 29 – February 7, 2021

In addition to the temporary snow art, visitors won’t want to miss Breckenridge’s award-winning arts district full of unique local makers and the 30+ public art installations throughout town.

The Breckenridge Snow Sculpture Invitational will adhere to all public health and safety regulations required for Colorado. Learn More.
